I think the word “gastric camera” is more familiar than an endoscope. As the name implies, a gastroscope is a camera used to look inside the stomach, but is it different from an endoscope?

Gastroscopes are now used interchangeably with endoscopes.

Originally, there is a clear difference in construction between a gastroscope and an endoscope. Gastrocamera is a technique adopted in the previous era, and most of the current stomach examinations are done with an endoscope. Only the word gastrocamera remains, and nowadays it is common to refer to an endoscope.

The original gastrocamera is a more primitive device that can only be used for photography. It is not possible to project images in real time. On the other hand, endoscopes use newer optical fiber technology than gastroscopes to enable more detailed and real-time observations.
